FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says one man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning. They responded to the shooting around 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of Weisser Park Avenue and East Pontiac Street. The man was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, and police say it happened within a block of another shooting Saturday morning. Police say the two incidents are not believed to be connected, and police are still looking for the suspect in Sunday’s incident.
The following were issued following each shooting:
On 06/21/2026 at approximately 02:16 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the area of Pontiac Street and Weisser Park Avenue in Fort Wayne.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid until medics arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for continued treatment. Despite life-saving efforts by police personnel, medics, and hospital staff, the male later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The intersection of Pontiac Street and Weisser Park Avenue will remain closed while members of the Homicide Unit and Air Support Unit process the scene and continue their investigation. There are no indicators of a threat to the community.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the appropriate authorities pending notification of family members.

On June 20, 2026, at approximately 0228 hours, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2600 block of Weisser Park regarding a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, patrol officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered aid. The victim sustained injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
This incident remains under active investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Investigative Division. There is no emerging information currently as this is a preliminary investigation. At this time, there are no indications that the public was in danger.
