UPDATE (May 7th, 2026):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Court documents in the murder case against Ya Sin of Fort Wayne say he killed Ali Gyi in a jealous rage. Sin shot Gyi in the head early Tuesday morning after playing cards with him, his wife, and at least one other person.
He then forced his wife to leave the home with him after asking her why she was sitting next to Gyi, knowing he didn’t like him.
Several witnesses also told investigators that Sin gets jealous when he drinks. He also allegedly threatened to kill his wife and himself.

Police released the following after Sin’s arrest:
On Tuesday May 5, 2026 at approximately 01:22 hours, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4500 block of Bowser Ave. in regards to a disturbance. When Officers arrived they located an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was pronounced deceased. Detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Unit responded and conducted a criminal investigation.
During the investigation, Ya Sin 47 year old male Asian was identified as a suspect in the shooting.
Ya Sin was located and arrested. He was charged with Murder, Kidnapping and Resisting Law Enforcement while Fleeing in a vehicle.

ORIGINAL STORY:
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that a man was fatally shot in the early hours of Tuesday on the city’s southeast side.
Police responded around 1:30 a.m. to the 4500 block of Bowser Avenue and found him inside a home. Paramedics pronounced him dead when they arrived. A suspect is in custody, but the investigation is ongoing. No names have been released.
The FWPD released the following:
On May 5, 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a possible shooting in the 4500 block of Bowser Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers located an unresponsive adult male inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Officers and Detectives immediately began interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. Due to a language barrier encountered during the initial stages of the investigation, an interpreter was requested to assist in obtaining accurate information.
The FWPD Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Air Support Unit (ASU) were called to the scene to continue the investigation. A suspect is currently in custody; however, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Team. No further information will be released at this time.
