FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says that one person died in a fire early Sunday morning. Crews responded to the call just after 3:20 a.m. in the 4600 block of South Park Drive and found the home engulfed in flames.
The victim was found after the flames were mostly extinguished, and the fire was under control in less than 30 minutes. The person’s identity has not been released.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department released the following:
FWFD was dispatched to the mentioned address on a reported structure fire. FWFD units arrived in less than four minutes to find a fully involved structure. Due to the heavy fire coming from every window and fire already through the roof of the structure, FWFD attacked the fire from the exterior in a defensive nature. Through the freezing temperatures and limited access, crews brought the fire under control in less than x30 minutes. After the fire had been mostly extinguished and crews were moving in to conduct overhaul, an occupant of the house was found and had unfortunately perished in the fire. The fire in under investigation at this time.
