FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The FWPD says that a child died after a crash in southeast Fort Wayne. Police responded to the two-vehicle crash just before 10 p.m. last night at the intersection of South Anthony Boulevard and Gardendale Avenue.
Two people were in each vehicle, and all were taken to hospitals for their injuries. The child later died. No names have been released.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) released the following:
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department, along with medics and firefighters, responded to a serious vehicle crash at the intersection of Anthony Boulevard and Gardendale Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles that had been involved in the collision, each occupied by two individuals, for a total of four occupants. Preliminary information indicates one vehicle was traveling northbound on Anthony Boulevard while the other was traveling southbound. One of the vehicles attempted to turn onto Gardendale Avenue, where the crash occurred. All four occupants sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. One of the injured was a minor under the age of 18 who was listed in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Investigators with the Fort Wayne Fatal Accident Crash Team were requested to assist and are attempting to reconstruct the crash to determine contributing factors.
This incident is being investigated by the FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team, FWPD Air Support Unit,
and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
