GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana State Police have arrested four people on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop in Grant County. It happened just after 11:30 Friday morning when a trooper smelled marijuana coming from inside the car that was stopped for speeding on Interstate 69 near the 270-mile marker. Three Illinois residents and a juvenile were arrested.
ISP found one pound of meth, 46 grams of cocaine, three ounces of marijuana, 34 grams of fentanyl, four grams of heroin, guns, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
ISP released the following:
On January 16, 2026, shortly after 11:30 a.m., Senior Trooper Jesse Reason was patrolling the area of I-69 near the 270 mile-marker. Senior Trooper Reason stopped a 2020 Jeep for speeding.
While speaking with the driver, Senior Trooper Reason smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The passenger was identified as Jamir J. Dangerfield, 19, from Lincoln, IL. The vehicle was also occupied by three additional occupants, (Leighanna, E. Allbritton, 19, Normal, IL), (Aerius A. Crenshaw, 18, Normal, IL), and a juvenile.
During a subsequent vehicle search, officers on scene located suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, fentanyl, heroin, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and firearms. Dangerfield, Allbritton, and Crenshaw were taken into custody and transported to the Grant County Jail. The juvenile was remanded to the Muncie Juvenile Detention Center.
All four (4) subjects were arrested and preliminary charged with:
Dealing in Methamphetamine – Level 2 Felony
Dealing in Cocaine – Level 2 Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 3 Felony
Possession of Cocaine – Level 3 Felony
Dealing in a Controlled Substance – Level 5 Felony
Dealing in Marijuana – Level 6 Felony
Possession of a Controlled Substance – A Misdemeanor
Possession of Marijuana – B Misdemeanor
Possession of Paraphernalia – C Misdemeanor
The preliminary weights are as follows:
Methamphetamine- 1 pound
Cocaine- 46 grams
Marijuana- 3 pounds
Fentanyl- 34 grams
Heroin- 4 grams
Controlled Substances- 38 grams
The substances will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for an exact determination of weight and composition.
Senior Trooper Reason was assisted at the scene by other troopers from the Peru District and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
