WASHINGTON D.C. (ADAMS) – The Senate is advancing a resolution that would block President Trump from taking further action in Venezuela without congressional approval. The upper chamber agreed to start debate on the war powers resolution in a 52-47 procedural vote.
Five Republicans joined Democrats in voting to advance the measure. That group of Republicans included Senators Rand Paul, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Todd Young, and Josh Hawley.
Trump could still veto any resolution to limit his power if it were to pass in Congress.
