UPDATE (November 19, 2025):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the identity of a man who died as a result of a house fire earlier this month. The 77-year-old man is reported to have died from smoke inhalation.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On November 11th of 2025 the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified by the Fort Wayne Fire Department in reference to a House fire at 3017 Reed Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Decedent was pronounced dead at the scene by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
Decedent was positively identified as Willie L. Williams, Male, Black age 77 of Fort Wayne, Indiana. His immediate Next Of Kin has been notified.
An Autopsy was performed and Willie L. Williams cause of death was Smoke Inhalation and Thermal Burns, and the Manner of Death is Accident.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Fire Department, Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says one person died as a result of their injuries in an overnight fire.
Crews were sent to the 3000 block of Reed Street, between Colerick and Eckhart, around 1:30 Tuesday morning, and pulled the sole occupant out of the house before they died.
Fire crews stayed on the scene for hours to make sure the flames were completely extinguished. Officials say the fire was accidental.
The FWFD released the following:
Fort Wayne Fire was dispatched to a reported House fire in the 3000 block of Reed St. Fire and smoke were showing as multiple crews arrived and were put into the structure to control the fire and search for victims. Crews entered the structure and in a few minutes were able to find and remove the occupant from the house. Medics and firefighters immediately started treatment, but the occupant eventually succumbed to the injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours making sure the house was extinguished. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature. Assisting at the scene was FWPD, NHC, TRAA, NIPSCO, AEP and City communications.
