FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say that a man died overnight after a shooting on the city’s northwest side. The Fort Wayne Police Department said he came into the Speedway gas station off Sherman close to West State Boulevard at around 1:30 Tuesday morning. At the time, an FWPD officer was inside the gas station and started to provide aid until paramedics arrived. He was taken to the hospital but a doctor pronounced him dead.
Police think he was involved in an exchange of shots in a nearby neighborhood before entering the store. They continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to come forward.
The FWPD released the following:
On Tuesday, 12/12/2023, at approximately 1:26 AM, an officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department was inside the Speedway gas station located at 2111 Sherman Blvd. An adult/male entered the store suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). The officer rendered medical aid to the victim until paramedics arrived. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
