Woman arrested in fatal stabbing at Villages of Hanna apartments

UPDATE( December 12, 2019):  Fort Wayne police have arrested a woman they believe responsible for the stabbing death of 49-year-old Stacy Jennings. Around 3 a.m., Wednesday morning, officers were called to 1311 Greene Street in the Villages of Hanna apartments for an unknown problem.

When they arrived they found two women inside the apartment. Jennings was suffering from apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The second female was taken to the police station where she was questioned by detectives.

After interviewing the woman, later identified as Kennishewa Whitley she was arrested on preliminary charges of Aggravated Battery, Battery Resulting in serious bodily injury and Criminal Recklessness.

She was booked into Allen County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) –¬†Fort Wayne police are investigating a stabbing overnight at the Villages of Hanna apartments that took a woman’s life.

Around 3 a.m., officers were dispatched to 1311 Greene Street for the report of an unknown problem. As officers arrived, they located a female victim suffering from apparent stab wound(s). Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

There reportedly was another female inside the apartment that was taken to the police station for questioning.

At this time, police say they don’t know what her relationship to the victim was.
Fort Wayne Police Homicide team members are investigating the incident.

Crime Scene technicians processed the scene for evidence.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will later be released by the Allen County Coroner.
This incident remains under investigation at this time.
