Woman critically injured in early morning shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left one woman with life-threatening injuries.
On Sunday September 8, 2019 at approximately 4:05 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence located in the 4000 block of Smith Street in reference to a domestic battery investigation. Officers received information that a female that was possibly involved in the domestic battery investigation had left the residence prior to officer’s arrival.
While officers were on the scene obtaining information regarding the domestic battery, they were advised that an adult female had arrived at a local hospital suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. It is believed that the female arrived at the hospital by private conveyance.

Hospital emergency room physicians determined after examining the female that she had life threatening injuries.
Investigators transported a male from the residence to the detective bureau to be interviewed.

It is believed that the female that arrived at the hospital may be associated with the domestic battery investigation.
At this time, no arrests have been made in reference to this investigation. Crime Scene Technicians arrived on the scene to document the scene and collect any potential evidence.
