FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a three-vehicle crash that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
It happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday at Lima Road and West Washington Center Road. Police say that a Ford Fusion rear-ended another vehicle stopped in traffic southbound on Lima.
Medics transported the driver of the Ford Fusion to a hospital for a neck/throat injury but she was in stable condition. After arriving at the hospital, her condition was downgraded to life-threatening, according to the FWPD.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were not hurt. Police said they do suspect that alcohol was a factor for the driver of the Ford Fusion. The crash remains under investigation.

On Sunday, 08/06/2023, at approximately 8:59 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Lima Road and West Washington Center Road reference a vehicle crash. Officers arrived on scene and observed the crash involved three vehicles.
Preliminary information indicates the driver of a Ford Fusion was southbound Lima Road and rear ended a vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The vehicle that was rear ended in turn rear ended another vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The female/adult driver of the Ford Fusion was transported by paramedics to a local hospital in stable condition reference an injury to her neck/throat. Upon arriving at the hospital her condition was downgraded to life-threatening by a physician.
The drivers and occupants of the other two vehicles involved did not report any injuries as a result of the crash. Investigators reported alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the crash on behalf of the driver of the Ford Fusion.
Southbound Lima Road remains open to traffic. The far west two lanes are closed while investigators process the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
