Two people, pets safe after Barr Street fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – FWFD officials say a Barr Street home was damaged in a fire Tuesday night. Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to the reported house fire at 3209 Barr Street just before 10 p.m.

First arriving firefighters observed a fire on the back deck of the house with fire extending to the interior and attic. Firefighters were hampered by a down power line in the area of the fire.
Crews conducted a search of the house and found that all occupants had self-evacuated with their pets.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The home suffered minor to moderate smoke, fire, and water damage.
Firefighters were assisted by FWPD, TRAA, AEP, NIPSCO and NCE.
