Two killed in Hancock County plane crash

HANCOCK CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Two people are dead after a plane crashed in Hancock County. Indiana State Police say the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. The airplane with two passengers on board crashed into a farm field just north of the Mount Comfort Airport.
Emergency crews were called to the area of County Road 500 North and 400 West after several people called 911 to report a plane crash. The first responders to the scene had difficulty reaching the wreckage due to muddy conditions. Once deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, troopers from the State Police and fire personnel reached the wreckage they found no survivors. After further investigation, it was determined there were two people on board the plane and both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Federal investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Traffic Safety Board are conducting an investigation trying to determine what caused the crash. The remains of the two victims were recovered by the Hancock County Coroner’s Office, the identity of the victims is being withheld at this time.
