FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Just before 6 a.m., crews were called to a reported house fire on the 3000 block of Sandpoint Road, between Bluffton and Ardmore.
Three adults made it out on their own but FWFD officials say that a cat had to be rescued.
The residents said that they woke up to the smell of smoke and found a fire in the front room of the home. After fire crews arrived they were able to quickly gain control of the fire.
The home suffered moderate fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The FWFD released the following:
An occupant of this residential home awoke this morning to the smell of smoke. A fire was found in the front room of the home. Three persons and one cat living in the house escaped through a first floor window. Fort Wayne Fire arrived to find fire venting from windows in the front of the house. Crews entered the structure to extinguish the fire and search for any possible remaining victims. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries occurred at this incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Multiple agencies were on scene or involved in order to bring this incident to a safe conclusion. They include: Fort Wayne Police, Three Rivers Ambulance, Fort Wayne Communications, Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code, NIPSCO and AEP.
