FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Officials with the Fort Wayne Police Department say that a motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash early Wednesday morning.
The FWPD said that he was found by officers who were patrolling off Rudisill and Hessen Cassel around 1:40 a.m. after they spotted the bike on the side of the road.
Police think he hit multiple trash cans when he lost control while heading north on Hessen Cassel. Officials say he was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On April 19th, 2023, at approximately 1:40am Fort Wayne Police Officers were patrolling the area of E. Rudisill Blvd. and Hessen Cassel Rd. when Officers observed a single motorcycle lying in the street on the northbound side. Officers the observed a male adult laying on the side of the road suffering from injuries sustained from a single motorcycle crash. The male operator of the motorcycle appeared to be traveling north on Hessen Cassel Rd. when he lost control striking several trash cans before crashing.
Officers on scene tended to the victim as medics arrived then transported the victim to a local hospital where he was described as in critical condition.
The Fort Wayne Police Department FACT (Fatal Accident Team) and ASU (Air Support Unit) were called out to the scene for a thorough investigation. Unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
