New traffic signal aids pedestrians, alerts motorists

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – In an ongoing effort to improve safety for all modes of transportation, the City’s Traffic Operations team is placing a traffic signal at the intersection of Schick Street and East Washington Boulevard.

The signal will be in flash mode through the weekend with full stop-go capabilities beginning Monday, June 8, 2020.

Schick is the cross street that connects student housing on the north side of Washington to the Indiana Tech campus. It’s estimated that more than 600 pedestrians cross at the intersection multiple times a day. Just over 15,000 vehicles cross the intersection each day.
