Missouri man dies in single-vehicle crash on I-69

MADISON CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana State Police say that a Missouri man was killed in a semi crash on I-69 Thursday night.
Around 11:20 p.m., troopers were called to I-69 southbound, in the area just south of the 223-mile marker, for a report of a semi off the right side of the roadway. Troopers Tucker, Clawson and Stephenson arrived to find a semi pulling a box trailer had run off the right side of I-69 southbound, traveling through the ditch and fence before becoming stuck in mud in the lot of a business.

The troopers could see the unresponsive driver inside the locked and running truck, so they broke out a window to gain entry and administer first aid. EMS arrived a short time later but were unable to resuscitate the driver, Marklin Kloeppel, age 51 of Mayview, Missouri.

The preliminary investigation by Trooper Brad Tucker indicates that Kloeppel likely suffered a major medical event before driving his truck off the west side of the roadway.
