FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) -The Fort Wayne Police Department says a man suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Lake Avenue early Monday.
It happened just after 2 a.m. on Monday when police say that three people were walking east on Lake near Maplecrest Road.
The FWPD says two of the pedestrians got out of the way, but the third was hit by a dark-colored vehicle that did not stop at the scene.
An ambulance transported the victim to a hospital in serious condition. However, doctors later downgraded his condition to life-threatening.
Police did not provide any additional information about the vehicle involved, other than it is a dark-colored vehicle. If you have any information, you’re asked to contact police.
The FWPD released the following:
On Monday August 28th 2023 at approximately 0200 hrs Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the 6200 block of Lake Ave regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
3 Adults were walking East bound on Lake Ave when a Dark colored vehicle struck one of the Male individuals and fled the scene. The male victim was transported by medics to a local hospital in stable condition but was later downgraded to life threatening condition.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
