INDIANA NEWS: State Republicans stall on DCS issue

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana’s GOP is not going to be taking address the problems looming around the Department of Child Services during the 2018 session that started yesterday.

GOP Senate leader David Long says he wont hold any public hearings regarding the matter that has been largely reported in the last few weeks. Democrats are pushing for public hearings on the issue.

The agency’s former director, Mary Beth Bonaventura resigned last month, accusing Governor Eric Holcomb of making management changes and service cuts that “all but ensure children will die.”

Holcomb’s administration says it is working with a nonprofit group to conduct a review of the agency.
That review is supposed to last until Spring 2018.
