FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Honor Flight Northeast Indiana is slated for its 44th Honor Flight from Fort Wayne on September 13th, 2023.
89 veterans from the Fort Wayne area are booked and confirmed for the flight. Included will be two Post WWII veterans, nine Korean War veterans, 11 Cold War veterans, 59 Vietnam veterans, one Panama veteran, four Desert Storm/ Shield Veterans, and three Iraqi Freedom Veterans. Four women veterans are included in the group as well. As of this date, 3,224 veterans have traveled from Fort Wayne to Washington, D.C. on an Honor Flight.

This flight will include several Veterans that have more than one generation of service traveling together, including the Bultemeyer family from Decatur Indiana. Four members of the Fritz Bultemeyer family including Fritz, Louann, and sons Jared and Von served in the US Army and will be enjoying a day in the nation’s capital, visiting the monuments built in honor of all the veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom. Honor Flight Northeast Indiana thanks all the organizations and individuals who, through their donations at local events and fund-raising events have made it possible to give our Veterans a day of remembrance and honor for their service. The visits to all the memorials built in their honor, make this a wonderful day for the men and women who deserve our respect and honor!
A Welcome Home celebration is scheduled at the Fort Wayne International Airport for 9 PM.
