INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – It’s the start of a new era for Indiana public schools. Governor Eric Holcomb yesterday appointed the state’s first Education Secretary.
Dr. Katie Jenner had been the governor’s education advisor, so she will now be the woman in charge of public education in the state.
Jenner replaces Indiana’s elected state Superintendent Jennifer McCormick.
Lawmakers passed a law back in 2017 to move the job from an elected position to an appointed position. Jenner is the first person appointed to the new post.
