UPDATE (January 7, 2021):
The Allen County Coroner has released the identity of the man killed in a crash on Hadley Road on Tuesday.
There is no word on the condition of the others, including an infant, that were taken to the hospital following the crash.
The coroner’s office released the following:
“The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of the fatal motor vehicle crash located in the 100 block of South Hadley Road, Fort Wayne, at about 13:50 hours on January 5, 2021. The decedent has been positively identified as Jon David Kaper, male white 22 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jon David Kaper was the restrained driver, of a motor vehicle which crossed the center line into the path of oncoming traffic. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene. Death was pronounced on scene.
The next of kin has been notified of the death. The Cause of Death is Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash and the Manner of Death is Accident. Jon David Kaper is the 3rd fatal motor vehicle crash in Allen County for 2021 This crash is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say the one person was killed and three others were hospitalized following a crash on Hadley Road Tuesday afternoon.
FWPD officials released the following regarding the crash:
“On 1/5/2021 at approximately 1:49 pm officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of S. Hadley Road and Blake Drive for the report of a personal injury accident with parties involved being pinned inside a vehicle.
Officers and fire department personnel arrived on scene and immediately began treating the victims of the accident. The adult male driver of one vehicle sustained severe injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
Preliminary reports from witnesses reported the driver of a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Hadley Road crossed over the railroad tracks, lost control and was not able to regain control. Same driver then went directly into oncoming northbound traffic and struck another vehicle. Witnesses further reported that speed may have been a factor in the accident. Three other victims, including an infant were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.
At this time the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Team is on scene investigating and reconstructing the incident. Hadley and Illinois Roads as well as Hadley at Blake Drive will be closed for the next few hours while evidence is gathered.”
