Woman pleads guilty to neglect in death of son

UPDATE (March 17, 2023):

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne mother is pleading guilty to neglect in the death of her two-year-old son in 2021.

WANE-TV reports that Kiara Johnson entered the plea this week.

She called 911 on September 29th, 2021 to report her two and three-year-old children “got into something” and they were found by police in the bathtub with the shower on.

Johnson had pills that were determined to contain fentanyl, and the children had taken them from her room.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne mother is looking at charges after police say her children took some of her pills that contain fentanyl.

Prosecutors yesterday filed child neglect and drug charges against 22-year-old Kiara Johnson. Her two-year-old son, Terris, died.

The coroner says an official cause of death is pending but says it looks like an overdose. One of Johnson’s other children survived.

Fort Wayne police say Johnson admitted to taking the pills and said at the time that the kids must have found them in her room.
