FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – 9 deaths in the state of Indiana are now being blamed on the influenza virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have classified flu activity in the state as “widespread”.
According to In.gov, flu and flu-like illnesses are now running ahead of this time last year.
Officials say that getting a flu shot, even now, can still help in preventing the virus or lessening the effects of an infection.
All of the deaths in Indiana from the flu were in those 50 and older.
