I wouldn’t hate a trend where more rich people and corporations follow the lead of the billionaire Robert F. Smith, who paid off the student debt for Morehouse College’s entire graduating class this year.
Yesterday morning, Burger King posted a very short tweet saying, quote, “Got student loans? What’s [your] cashtag?”
A cashtag is your username on Cash App, which is one of those apps where people can make payments to each other. It’s like Venmo, PayPal.Me, and the rest.
Burger King hasn’t said a WORD about what they meant . . . but tens of thousands of people have responded to the tweet so far hoping it’s BK deciding to pay off everyone’s student loans.
Of course, Burger King is known for its TROLLING marketing strategy lately . . . although they mostly troll McDonald’s.
So, if this IS a joke . . . it could backfire in a nasty way.
