The investigation, which was conducted by Master Trooper Brad Shultz, indicated at approximately 9:10 a.m. a blue 2008 Ford SUV, driven by 50 year old Loretta N. Sassmannshausen of Fort Wayne was traveling eastbound on Vandolah Road, approaching the intersection with Tonkel Road.

The Ford entered the intersection and struck a northbound 2017 Audi driven by 72 year old David W. Bohren of Leo. The Audi then left the east side of the roadway and went into a ditch before striking a tree. As a result of hitting the tree, the Audi rolled onto its top.

Both vehicles had airbag deployment and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts which lessened the nature of injuries sustained.

Sassmannshausen was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries and Bohren refused medical treatment. Sassmannshausen was also cited for failing to yield the right of way.
