FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Public Library says that its Genealogy Center will extend hours to welcome the International German Genealogy Partnership’s (IGGP) 2023 Conference.
This is the first time the IGGP has chosen to host its conference in Fort Wayne.
ACPL representatives released the following
The ACPL’s Genealogy Center is hosting a full-day pre-conference on June 8 and will be extending hours for in-person Connection Sessions throughout the conference at the Main Library. Volunteers and staff will be on site to assist conference-goers with their genealogical research. Early hours will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. when the Library opens its normal business hours. Later hours will also be available on Friday until 8 p.m. The Grand Wayne Convention Center is hosting the full conference June 9 through 11 where 600 IGGP conference attendees will be engaging in educational sessions, networking with researchers from all over the world.
The Genealogy Center team has been planning for months alongside the IGGP conference team. The timing of the conference coincides with the city’s annual Germanfest. This was intentional on the part of conference organizers.
“We are so pleased the IGGP chose to hold their conference during our community’s annual Germanfest,” said ACPL Director of Special Collections Curt Witcher. “I know visitors to our city will be amazed at the celebration of German heritage they will see and experience in Fort Wayne. And they will assuredly be impressed with this library.”
