FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – City Utilities says that work on the East Transmission Main Project will continue next week, with extended closures and lane restrictions beginning Monday, June 22, and continuing through late November.
The traffic impacts include:
• New Haven Avenue: Westbound lane closed between Meyer Road and Coliseum Boulevard South
• Coliseum Boulevard South: Northbound lane closed south of McCormick Avenue
• State Road 930 and Meyer Road: Southbound access closed at the intersection
Posted detours will use Indiana 930/East Washington Boulevard or Maumee Avenue, depending on direction of travel, along with South Anthony Boulevard, Wayne Trace, Oxford Street and Paulding Street to help drivers access businesses in the area. A detour map is attached.
The following was released:
The project includes the construction of nearly four miles of 30-inch water transmission main that will add redundancy and strengthen the water distribution system for the Harvester neighborhood and the industrial area along New Haven Avenue and Meyer Road. A water transmission main is a large underground pipe that moves treated drinking water from treatment plants to different parts of the city’s distribution system, working much like an interstate highway by carrying large volumes of water quickly to areas where it is needed to support neighborhoods, businesses and fire protection.
Drivers traveling through the area or trying to reach businesses near Meyer Road, New Haven Avenue, Moeller Road and State Road 930 should follow posted detours and use the following routes:
• State Road 930 access from Meyer Road: Drivers traveling north on Meyer Road who want to reach SR 930 should go west on Oxford Street, north on Wayne Trace, continue to North Anthony Boulevard, and then use Maumee Avenue to reach SR 930.
• Access between New Haven Avenue and Moeller Road: Meyer Road will be open to northbound traffic only between New Haven Avenue and Moeller Road. Drivers traveling north from Oxford Street should use Paulding Avenue to Adams Center Road, then Moeller Road, to reach businesses along Meyer Road. To exit the area, drivers should travel east on New Haven Avenue and return to SR 930.
• Meyer Road between New Haven Avenue and SR 930: Access to businesses on Meyer Road north of New Haven Avenue will be northbound only. New Haven Avenue will remain open to two-way traffic between SR 930 and Meyer Road. Drivers leaving New Haven Avenue can continue east to reconnect with SR 930 near Dellwood Drive.
