FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that one woman has died and another was hurt in a crash on West Jefferson Boulevard Thursday morning.
The FWPD says that officers and first responders were called out just before 8:30 to the scene close to SweetCars.
Police say initial investigation showed that one of the vehicles involved crossed the center of the roadway and struck the other head-on. Both women who were driving the vehicles were taken to the hospital. One of them died, and the other is currently in stable condition.
The FWPD released the following:
On March 12, 2026, at approximately 8:23 AM, officers responded to a reported crash in the 2300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles involved in a head-on collision. Preliminary investigation indicates that a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle.
Both drivers, adult females, were transported to a local hospital. One driver succumbed to her injuries, while the other remains in stable condition with minor injuries. The Fort Wayne Fire Department assisted at the scene and extricated one driver who was trapped in her vehicle.
The FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) and the Air Support Unit (ASU) responded to conduct the investigation. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased driver after next of kin have been notified.
This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD FACT Team and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
