ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – I-469 in Fort Wayne is moving again after an overnight crash just before Maysville Road. Several people were reported to be hurt.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says a semi in the westbound lanes left the roadway south of the Stellhorn overpass just after midnight. It hit a pole, and the impact spread a broken concrete barrier on the other side of the interstate, which several other vehicles hit.
A semi was seen in a ditch with debris across the interstate. Investigators remained at the scene for hours.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following early Wednesday morning:
On February 11, 2026, at approximately 12:08 a.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of southbound I-469 near the 23-mile marker for a report of a semi involved in a crash.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located a semi-truck on the west side of southbound I-469, just south of the Stellhorn Road overpass. A tow truck, which was towing a passenger vehicle, was also located in the southbound lanes of I-469 with a large metal pole in the roadway. Officers further observed a large temporary concrete median wall in the northbound lanes, along with a semi hauling pigs and multiple other vehicles in the northbound lanes that appeared to have struck portions of the concrete wall.
Preliminary investigation indicates a semi with a trailer was traveling southbound on I-469 when, for unknown reasons, it left the west side of the roadway, striking the Stellhorn Road overpass and then a large metal pole that had been staged for construction off the west side of the roadway. The semi lost its load on the west side of the roadway, and the collision forced the pole into the southbound lanes. A southbound tow truck that was towing a vehicle then struck the pole, causing the tow truck to collide with the center temporary concrete median wall. The impact forced sections of the concrete wall into the northbound lanes of I-469. Another semi hauling a trailer full of pigs, along with several other vehicles traveling in the northbound lanes, then collided with the displaced sections of the concrete median wall. Three drivers were transported from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
Both southbound and northbound I-469 will be closed for at least the next several hours between SR 37 and US 24. Stellhorn Road and the overpass will also be closed for several hours until the Indiana Department of Transportation can inspect the damage to the bridge.
