COLUMBUS, Ohio (ADAMS) – An effort is underway to overturn new cannabis laws that have been passed by elected officials in Ohio.
A group known as Ohioans for Cannabis Choice is pushing a referendum issue that would do away with Senate Bill 56.
The new law, signed by Governor DeWine in December, bans many intoxicating hemp and THC beverages while creating new criminal penalties around adult-use cannabis.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has approved a ballot petition from Ohioans for Cannabis Choice. The group must now collect nearly 250,000 more petition signatures from voters in the state before March 20th. If they succeed, Senate Bill 56 will be put on hold until November, after the referendum vote.
