INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Firefighters in Indiana have shown elevated levels of PFAS chemicals in their bodies in blood testing.
The study was done by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Eurofins Scientific. The report’s findings “confirm what firefighters and their families have been raising alarms about for years,” according to state Representative Maureen Bauer, a South Bend Democrat.
She says PFAS exposure is not isolated but is “systemic, occupational, and statewide.” Bauer says the study gave them real data to work with.
