FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says that a man is in life-threatening condition after being shot Thursday morning close to St. Marys Avenue.
Officers were sent to the 1100 block of Franklin Avenue just before 8:30 a.m. and found the victim with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police are still investigating but say they believe there is no threat to the general public.
The FWPD released the following just before 10 a.m. on Thursday:
On 1/8/26 at approximately 8:26 am, Officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 1100 block of Franklin Ave. Officers located an adult male subject with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered first aid while waiting for Three Rivers Ambulance Authority to arrive. The victim was transported to a local hospital where a Doctor determined he was in life threatening condition.
Detectives and Crime Scene are on scene speaking with witnesses and documenting and collecting evidence.
There is no known threat to the public at this time.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit.
