MERCER CO., Ohio (ADAMS) – A historic Catholic church that was nearly destroyed by fire in Mercer County is seeing additional damage.
Operators of the Churches of Ohio Facebook page posted images of a collapsed wall at Saint John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein on Monday, saying the section of the building was toppled in high winds.
The structure saw significant damage during a fire in May and work was underway to restore it. It is unclear right now whether rebuilding plans will change after the additional damage. The church was originally built in the 1890’s.
