INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is suing the state’s largest school district.
Rokita filed the lawsuit Thursday against Indianapolis Public Schools, saying the district is “thwarting” federal immigration enforcement by limiting Immigration and Customs Enforcement access to schools.
ICE agents need to have a warrant signed by a judge, and their legal counsel has to authorize the access, which the Attorney General says is a sanctuary policy and argues not letting employees help ICE violates state law.
Indianapolis Public Schools responded by saying “every dollar spent on defensive legal posture is a dollar not spent on instructional support, teacher development, student services, or enrichment.”
