FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Honor Flight Northeast Indiana (HFNEI) will take its 54th flight to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025.
Honor Flight Northeast Indiana has safely transported 4,064 veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. For the upcoming 54th flight, 85 veterans are confirmed to participate: 1 from the Korean War, 8 from the Cold War, and 76 from the Vietnam War. Among these honored veterans, four have received Purple Hearts (1 with Valor), two have been awarded Bronze Stars, and another has received the Distinguished Cross – 11 Oakleaf Clusters.

Honor Flight Northeast Indiana thanks all the organizations and individuals who, through their donations at local events and fund-raising events, have made it possible to give our Veterans a day of remembrance and honor for their service. The visits to all the memorials built in their honor, made this a wonderful day for the men and women who deserve our respect and honor!
A Welcome Home celebration is scheduled at the Fort Wayne International Airport for around 8 p.m.
The Walorski Family Foundation is honored to help sponsor this Honor Flight in her memory and to carry on her legacy. Jackie always had a heart for veterans. She met every Honor Flight that she could when she was in Washington, D.C. Whenever she met a veteran, she would always say, “thank you for your service,” followed by “we are a grateful nation.”
HFNI President, Cathy Berkshire states “Thank you to the Fort Wayne, Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio communities for helping us fulfill our mission, allowing Honor Flight Northeast Indiana to commemorate our 54th Honor Flight! A special Thank You to the Waynedale American Legion Post 241 for hosting Honor Flight Northeast Indiana for our morning program!”
Berkshire states, “We invite all individuals to participate in the Welcome Home Celebration to recognize and pay tribute to these heroes upon their return from Washington D.C. that they so richly deserve. Please plan to arrive at Fort Wayne International Airport around 8:00 pm. Portions of the long-term parking will be closed and a majority of the people attending will be redirected to a designated area on Ardmore Avenue with shuttle service to and from Fort Wayne International Airport, please plan to carpool, if possible. Due to construction at The Fort Wayne Internation Airport most of the Welcome Home will be held outside. Please plan to dress according to the weather. Please feel free to bring a folding chair or camp chair so sit down while waiting for our return ”
