FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed Saturday in Fort Wayne has been identified. The Fort Wayne Police Department thanked the public for assistance in identifying him.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office says he was Kardenai Hollis. He was shot on the northeast side of Fort Wayne at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of River Run Trail.
No suspect has been identified or arrested yet. Police ask you to come forward if you know anything.
The FWPD put out the following on Tuesday:
The Fort Wayne Police Department has been able to positively identify the victim of the homicide that occurred in the 1800 block of River Run Trail on 7/19/2025. We would like to thank the public for their assistance. After proper notifications are made, the Allen County Coroner’s Office will release victims’ identity.
The FWPD Homicide Unit is actively investigating the homicide and isn asking anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Division at (260) 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP (7867), or the P3 app. Fort Wayne Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified and made notifications to the next of kin of the deceased individual that was found shot in the 1800 Block of River Run Trail, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 03:08 hours, Saturday, July 19, 2025. He has been positively identified as Kardenai Anthony Hollis male, Black, age 16, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a shooting in
the area and found Kardenai Anthony Hollis unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital and later was pronounced deceased. Kardenai Anthony Hollis’ Cause of Death is Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Kardenai Anthony Hollis is the 22nd Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2025.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The Fort Wayne Police Department says that officers are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting early Saturday. It happened at the Woodbridge Apartments off St. Joe Center Road.
Police say they are trying to identify the victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 3:03 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 1800 River Run Trail, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s).
The victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, is described as a Black male, approximately 15 to 20 years old, 5’11” tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with a chipped front tooth.
The identity of the victim remains unknown at this time. We are asking anyone who may have information related to this incident or the identity of the victim to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Division at (260) 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP (7867), or the P3 app.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is investigating a deadly Saturday morning shooting.
Officers initially responded to reports of shots fired in the 1800 block of River Run Trail in the Woodbridge Apartments complex around 3 a.m. The FWPD says that officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The FWPD released the following:
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1800 block of River Run Trail just after 3 am to calls of hearing shots fired. Officers located a male suffering for several gunshot wounds. Medics transported the male to a local hospital is critical condition and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The name and age of the victim are unknown currently.
Detectives are searching the area for witnesses, evidence, and camera footage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1222, Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867, or use the anonymous P3 Tips App.
This shooting is being investigated by the FWPD Homicide Team, Air Support, Crime Scene, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
