UPDATE (June 11, 2025):
Indiana State Police gave an update on Tuesday on a crash that we now know was fatal.
24-year-old Tyler Alberding is accused of running from police during a traffic stop before crashing into two vehicles at Clinton and Wallen Monday afternoon.
A woman taken from the scene with critical injuries died later at the hospital.
ISP released the following:
The Indiana State Police was requested to investigate a crash where a driver was fleeing police. Officers from the Allen County Drug Task Force, a joint team of officers from several Allen County police agencies, attempted to make a traffic stop on a white 2004 Cadillac driven by Tyler Alberding (24) of Ft. Wayne.
The preliminary investigation shows on Monday, June 9, 2025, around 1:20pm Mr. Alberding fled from police north on North Clinton St. from an attempted traffic stop. While running from police, he struck two vehicles at the intersection of North Clinton St. and Wallen Rd.
The Cadillac struck a Silver 2016 Subaru, seriously injuring the driver, Carolyn Hutchinson (93) of Ft. Wayne. Ms. Hutchinson was transported from the scene to a local hospital. Later, while at the hospital, Ms. Hutchinson succumbed to the injuries she suffered in the crash. The Allen County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that her family has been notified. The white Cadillac also hit a red 2015 Ford truck, injuring Larry Zant (80) of Ft. Wayne. Mr. Zant was transported from the scene to a local hospital in serious condition.
Tyler Alberding was arrested by the Allen Count Sheriffs Department and all questions pertaining to his arrest, the pursuit or the task force should be directed to them.
The crash investigation is still ongoing. There is nothing further to be release at this time.

ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says a woman has life-threatening injuries after a police suspect in a chase crashed into her vehicle. Just before 1:30 Monday afternoon, officers with the Allen County Drug Task Force were conducting a narcotics investigation in the area of North Clinton Street and Auburn Road.
The subject fled that scene before the crash at North Clinton and East Wallen with two other vehicles, according to the sheriff’s department.
Two others in the other vehicle were not hurt. The suspect was also uninjured and tried to flee on foot but was apprehended.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
On June 9, 2025, at approximately 1:21 p.m., officers with the Allen County Drug Task Force were conducting a narcotics investigation in the area of North Clinton Street and Auburn Road.
During the investigation, officers attempted to stop a male suspect, who fled the scene in a passenger vehicle. A brief pursuit ensued, during which the suspect traveled northbound on North Clinton Street and temporarily evaded officers. As officers approached the area of North Clinton Street and East Wallen Road, they discovered that the suspect vehicle had been involved in a collision with a small SUV and a pickup truck.
The suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later. Officers and medics immediately rendered aid to all individuals involved in the crash.
The suspect was treated and medically cleared at the scene but was transported by officers to a local hospital as a precaution. The male driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The female driver of the SUV sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center.
The Indiana State Police are leading the investigation of the crash and the incident remains under investigation.
