FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) was busy Sunday night with three different calls between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The first sent crews to a garage fire on Franklin Avenue near Hamilton Park. Two cats were rescued from a detached garage.
Later in the day, FWFD crews put out fires at a home on Wayne Trace and a commercial space off Decatur Road.
No injuries reported in any of the fires. The official cause for all three remains to be determined.
The following was issued by the FWFD regarding each call:
6:26 p.m. – 1703 Franklin Avenue
FWFD was dispatched to the mentioned address on a reported structure fire. Communications received multiple calls from bystanders. FWFD Engine 7 was on scene in less than one minute from dispatch and found heavy fire in an area between a x2 story residential structure and a large x2 story detached garage with fire involvement in both buildings. The electrical power line to the structure also burned away and was along the front of the structures. FWFD worked to contain and extinguish the fires quickly, conduct a search and found x2 cats and removed safely. the fire was brought under control in just over x15 minutes.

11:21p.m. – 5023 Decatur Road
Fort Wayne 911 Communications received a call reporting fire from the roof of a commercial building. Fort Wayne Fire Engine 11 arrived first on the scene and extinguished a fire in the attic of a retail store. The fire spread to roofing materials. Several fire crews worked in and outside of the building to extinguish this fire. No persons were in the building at the time of the fire, no injuries occurred, and the cause is being investigated. Several agencies worked to resolve this emergency incident. They include 911 Communications, Neighborhood Code Enforcement, Allen County Board of Health and Building Departments, Fort Wayne Police, Three Rivers Ambulance, NIPSCO and AEP.

7:48 p.m. – 3815 Wayne Trace
FWFD was dispatched to a possible Structure Fire, upon arrival there was light smoke visible. All occupants were outside of the house. Crews quickly searched the house and found an active attic fire. The fire was extinguished and put under control in a timely matter. Red Cross was contacted for assistance for the occupants. Other assisting agencies include, AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA, FWPD and FW Dispatch.
