FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – In celebration of Arbor Day 2025, the City says that Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Trees Indiana will offer over 150 seedlings to the public (one per household). Any resident can call ahead ro reserve their seedling.
The City released the following:
Trees are an asset to communities when planted properly and maintained. They help improve visual appeal in a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide habitat for wildlife, among many benefits.
Eastern White Pine, Red Oak and American Plum tree seedlings will be offered to those who register on a first come first served basis. Those who want a free tree seedling should call 260-427-6000 during normal business hours now through April 23 to reserve a seedling. The bare root seedlings must be picked up on Friday, April 25, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Kettler Park located at Buell Drive and Paulding Road.
Inclement Weather Procedure: Any program changes, facility closures or other weather-related adjustments will be posted to the FWPRD social media pages and website. Text alerts will be sent (to those that have opted-in to this service). If the Mayor declares an emergency, all Parks and Recreation facilities and programs will be closed or canceled
