FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says that a 21-year-old is facing charges after allegedly stealing $8,000 through a CashApp scheme at a Fort Wayne Dollar General.
Nian Young was arrested Thursday after the store had figured out the scheme. Officers were called to the Bluffton Road location around 3:15 p.m. and were advised that Young had allegedly been using CashApp to transfer money from the store’s register to his account.
The store said he had allegedly stolen $8,000 over a three-week period. Young was interviewed by detectives and arrested after police say he admitted it. The case remains under investigation.

On Thursday, April 10th, 2025, around 3:15 pm, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) were dispatched to Dollar General located at 1850 Bluffton Road regarding a report of internal theft. Upon their arrival, officers spoke with the Regional Asset Protection Manager, who reported that a recent former employee, identified as Nian Young, was suspected of stealing approximately $8,000 from the business. According to the manager, Mr. Young used the mobile payment platform “CASHAPP” to transfer funds directly from the store’s register to his personal account. This occurred in the span of around three weeks, the manager added.
Mr. Young was later interviewed by a detective and admitted to the theft. He was subsequently arrested for felony theft. This case remains under active investigation by the FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
