FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne has launched its annual fundraising campaign under the theme of “The Y Within Reach for All.”
With a goal of raising $800,000 in just one month, the YMCA says that every dollar raised will go directly toward financial scholarships for memberships and programs in Allen, Wells, and Whitley counties, making healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility accessible to all.
The YMCA released the following:
The YMCA is committed to fostering a healthier, stronger community where everyone, regardless of income, can participate in programs that promote well-being. The Y’s financial scholarships help individuals and families gain the support they need to live healthier lives, providing reduced fees for memberships and world-class programs including swim lessons, after-school care, chronic disease prevention, and more.
This campaign is a crucial step toward achieving the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne’s vision of becoming one of the top ten healthiest communities in the nation within the next ten years. Fort Wayne currently ranks 83rd, up from last year’s ranking of 88th out of 100 according to the Academy of Sports Medicine’s American Fitness Index. Rankings can be viewed at https://www.acsm.org/about/community-impact-programs/american-fitness-index.
