FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Forestry Division said on Wednesday that it is monitoring any damage left behind as icy weather moves through the area. Any amount of ice accumulation can cause significant damage to trees, leading to fallen branches and hazardous conditions.
City residents who notice tree damage within the public right-of-way (between the street and property line) are encouraged to report it by calling 311. Reports will be assessed, prioritized, and addressed as quickly as possible. The Fort Wayne Forestry Division is responsible for trees located along streets and other public areas, not those on private property.
In the event of widespread tree failures, the top priority will be to ensure safe passage and emergency routes, followed by secondary and residential streets. The community’s patience and cooperation are appreciated as crews work to clear roadways and mitigate hazards.
