UPDATE (January 16, 2025):
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified a man shot and killed Tuesday off East Lewis Street. The coroner says that 53-year-old Kenneth Richards was the victim and died from the gunshot wounds to his neck and torso. A 24-year-old man – Kenneth King – was quickly arrested.
On January 14, 2025, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified a shooting death investigation in the 1400 Block of East Lewis Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
The victim was identified as Kenneth Lemar Richards, male, Black, 53 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Notification has been made to the next of kin and an autopsy has been completed. The Cause of Death is Gunshot Wounds of Neck and Torso, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Kenneth Lemar Richards is the 3rd Homicide for Allen County in 2025.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man has been arrested for the murder of another east of downtown Fort Wayne Tuesday. The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says officers were called at roughly 9:45 a.m. to the 1400 block of E. Lewis Street, where they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested 24-year-old Kenneth King a short time later. The victim’s name has not been released.

The Fort Wayne Police responded to reports of a shooting at roughly 9:45am in the area of 1400 E. Lewis St. today, Jan. 14th, 2025. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). FWPD rendered the victim aid, until TRAA arrived and took over care. TRAA pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
Kenneth King, 24 years of age was arrested for Murder in connection to the 1400 E. Lewis St. shooting.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the shooting are actively being pieced together by Homicide detectives. More information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.
