FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) was able to quickly get control of a housefire Thursday night on the 300 block of West Williams Street.
The FWFD says the house did suffer moderate to heavy smoke, water, and fire damage. No injuries were reported however, one of the three cats at the residence perished.
Fire officials believe it started as an accidental kitchen fire.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire with flames showing from 2 sides of the residence. E2 arrived and entered the structure and quickly extinguished a working kitchen fire. Other crews arrived and searched the structure for occupants and pets. All occupants self-evacuated and 3 cats were found but one had perished. The fire was under control in a few minutes, but crews remained on scene for a while checking on hot spots. Investigators found the cause to be an accidental cooking fire. Assisting at the scene was N.H.C, T.R.A.A, FWPD, AEP, and NIPSCO.
