INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Leaders from across the state are reacting to the passing of former President Jimmy Carter. Congressman Rudy Yakym, from Indiana’s Second District, said in a statement, “Jimmy Carter was a strong believer and devoted his post-presidency to humanitarian service and causes that lift us all up.”
Indiana Democrat and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said, “President Carter was a good man and exemplary American who set a powerful example for all of us.”

The former president passed away at his Georgia home Sunday at the age of 100. His son announced his passing on Sunday, saying he died at his home in Plains, Georgia. Carter was preceded in death by his wife Rosalynn who passed away last year at 96. After leaving the White House, Carter went on to become an active humanitarian.
The former peanut farmer worked with Habitat for Humanity for nearly 40 years. Jimmy Carter is survived by his four children and several grandchildren.
