Fred Garland (Trine University)
ANGOLA, Ind. (ADAMS) – A crash on Interstate 94 in Michigan’s Calhoun County Wednesday night claimed the life of Trine University basketball player Fred Garland.
The 22-year-old was from Detroit and was the only one in his car. The crash happened around 10 p.m. as lake effect snow was blasting much of the western side of Michigan, making the roads snow-covered and icy.
Garland was a senior and was twice named to the All-MIAA team and was the Thunder’s second-leading scorer last year with 13-point-four points a game.
