The Allen County Coroner has identified the person, a teenager, who was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday.
The teen was identified as 16-year-old Ah Mee Kun. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was ruled as “Homicide-Police Action Shooting,” which is the standard classification for incidents involving police shootings in Allen County.

The shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday when officers responded to a report of individuals walking along the 4200 block of Avondale Drive. The FWPD said he was threatening to shoot people on the street. Upon arrival, police encountered several people, and Kun was found to have a firearm, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
The department said he did not follow commands leading to the shooting.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following on Tuesday:
On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a police-action shooting, in the 4000 Block of Avondale Drive, in Fort Wayne. Three Rivers Ambulance Authority responded and pronounced death at the scene. The individual has been positively identified as Ah Mee Kun, male, Asian, 16 years of age, from Fort Wayne.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the legal next of kin. The Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide-Police Action Shooting. Ah Mee Kun is the 39th Homicide for Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, in 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Indiana State Police, the
Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne police officer is in the hospital but expected to recover, and an alleged suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting Sunday night.
The person refused to follow commands by officers after being seen with a gun in a group of people who were walking in the 4200 block of Avondale Drive. The officer was injured in the incident and is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
We currently do not know the names of either the officer or the person who died. Indiana State Police will now conduct an investigation.
The FWPD released the following:
On November 10, 2024 at approximately 10:49 pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department received a call regarding multiple individuals walking up and down the 4200 block of Avondale Drive with firearms making threats to shoot. Multiple Officers arrived in the area and located several individuals around the 4100 block of Avondale Drive. At least one suspect had a firearm, in which that suspect failed to comply with verbal commands given by the Officers. Shots were fired and the suspect was struck. Officers rendered medical aid to the suspect until relieved by medics. Medics continued providing medical aid until it was determined that the suspect succumbed to the injuries.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. The Indiana State Police will conduct an independent investigation.
