FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum has announced the addition of a new Civil War monument to be dedicated on Monday, August 7th at 11 am on the grounds at 2122 O’Day Road in Fort Wayne.
The new monument was donated by a local family that had relatives that served during the Civil War and in World War II.
The black granite monument that stands over 6 feet tall will be placed next to a Civil War tribute to the 44 Infantry that was made up of soldiers from northeast Indiana.

Their headstones are placed in a special area that names all those that died during the Civil War. Greg Bedford, Commander said“ This beautiful monument is one of many new monuments to be scheduled for installation soon on the Veterans Memorial Park. We already have commitments for a new Korean monument to be installed by Veteran’s Day, a planned World War II monument and a Woody Williams Gold Star Families monument.”
