UPDATE (September 6, 2024):
The Fort Wayne Police Department says there have been arrests made in a fatal shooting off Kinnaird Avenue. Two people are now facing charges.
The FWPD released the following:
On 9/2/2024 around 7:27pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a shooting investigation in the 500 block of Kinnaird Avenue. A male victim was located on the scene suffering from a gunshot wound(s) and was later pronounced deceased. The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Homicide Unit conducted the criminal investigation and on 09/05/2024 arrested 19-year-old Damerion Freeman and 24yo Trace Pallone for the murder. Both subjects are currently at the Allen County Jail facing charges of Murder (acting in concert), Felony Murder and robbery (attempt). The Homicide Unit was assisted in the investigation by the Gang and Violence Crime Unit, the Narcotics Division, the Aerial Support Unit, Crime Scene Management, the Indiana State Police, the Allen County Prosecutors Office and the Allen County Coroners Office.

ORIGINAL STORY:
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man was shot and killed on Kinnaird Avenue, just off Fairfield, close to Lutheran and Packard parks. Police responded to the shooting just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday and said efforts to save his life were not successful.
Two men were seen running from the scene, but neither have been found. The man’s identity has not been released.
The FWPD released the following:
On Monday, September 2, 2024, at approximately 7:27PM, Fort Wayne Police Dept responded to reports of shots fired in the 500 Block of Kinnaird Ave. Initial reports indicated 2 male, blacks were observed running from the area immediately after the gunshots were heard and a male, black victim was observed in an alley.
Shortly thereafter, FWPD arrived on scene and located a male, adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers, along with Fort Wayne Fire Dept and TRAA medics responding to the scene, attempted life saving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. A page for FWPD Homicide Detectives, Crime Scene and Aerial Support Units was then initiated.
FWPD Detectives, Crime Scene Technicians and ASU arrived a short time later and began to canvass the area and collect evidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact FWPD or Crime Stoppers using the P3 Tip App. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.
